There are many symptoms and signs that those with ADHD experience. Some ADHD symptoms and signs include:

  • Hard time following directions

  • Struggles with organization

  • Struggles with time management

  • Can not sit still

  • Frequent fidgeting

In the United States alone, 6.4 million people have been diagnosed with ADHD. It is an extremely common disorder with varying levels of impairment. Of those with ADHD, men are nearly 3x as likely to have it. One possible explanation for why men are more likely to be diagnosed than women is that they tend to display ADHD symptoms more often, so they get diagnosed at a greater frequency. Additionally, ADHD is a lifelong condition with symptoms usually first appearing between the ages of 3 and 6. As a result, the average age of diagnosis is 7 years old.

Among the 6.4 million people diagnosed with ADHD, approximately 50% have a behavior or conduct problem. About 50% of people with ADHD also have anxiety. Additionally, 25% of people diagnosed with ADHD have a parent who also has ADHD contributing to the idea that ADHD is, to a large extent, genetic
